Was It Something I Said?

I spent my spare time in 2012 perusing and joining dating sites. I never had any luck, so I gave them up. A couple of accounts are still open and I get “hits” from time to time. About a week ago, I got a “hit” that a lady wanted to meet me. I decided, “what the hell do I have to lose?” and checked out her profile. She was 42 and fairly attractive and we had a few things in common. So I decided to contact her. I requested her email address via the dating site and a few hours later she provided me with me with it. Below is the intial email I sent her.

Subject: Hello There

Hi Jenn,
I assume your name is Jenn? :) Thanks for allowing me to contact you. My name is Shawn and I live in the Orlando area. I am 45 years old and have 2 great daughters, 8 and 11. I’ve been divorced for almost 4 years now. I am a graphic designer for almost 17 years but now I have moved up to management.

Let’s see…things I like to do: Fish, target shooting, watching NFL games, action movies, LOVE the beach, trying new restaurants and everything APPLE. Yes I am an Apple fan boy. :) I consider myself rather laid back and drama free and somewhat of a nerd. I have a crazy sense of humor and I love to laugh and joke around. Some people I say I always have a serious look, but once they get to know me, they see that I am actually a cool person.

So tell me a few things about yourself? I really don’t have any specific questions yet.

Hope to here back from you and take care.

Shawn
It’s been over a week and there has been zero response. Not even a “Thanks, but I’m not interested.” I’m a big boy now so I can handle rejection. Especially from someone I never met. So the question is, Was It Something i Said?

Honestly, I think it would be safe to say either cut your losses and assume the worst. I hate to say it, but it is a cruel game that some people play and it downright sucks. I don’t find anything wrong with what you said…nothing at all, I think you were upfront and honest, which is good, and let her know just enough about yourself so she could see what your interests are. Common courtesy would dictate a “sorry not interested” in the very least. I’m sorry :( (from lunkendrush)
